Turkish plane rolls out from runway in Trabzon
After landing in Trabzon, a Pegasus Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration TC-CPF performing flight PC-8622 rolled out of the runaway and got stuck on a cliff slope above the Black Sea.
„We’re sorry to report that the Boeing 737-800 type TC-CPF registered aircraft of Pegasus Airlines Flight Number PC 8622 Ankara-Trabzon flight scheduled at 18:25 UTC [9:25 p.m. local time] tonight, had a Runway Excursion Incident during landing at Trabzon Airport (13 January 2018)…. There has been no loss of life or injury to anyone on-board,“ the airline said in an official statement.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft was carrying 162 passengers and six crew members, all of them were evacuated, no one was hurt. After the incident, Trabzon airport was closed for several hours, Anadolu agency reports.
According to the Aviation Herald, Trabzon's Prosecution Office reported opening an investigation into the accident.
„The flight crew was tested for intoxication, no findings were made, and was interviewed,“ Aviation Herald reports. „The flight crew reported the flight was normal until after touch down with the first officer being pilot flying, deceleration was slow due to the wet runway, the controls were handed to the captain, the captain applied brakes, the aircraft turned left, the aircraft went off the runway, the right hand engine suddenly accelerated in forward thrust unintentionally.“
