Thai Airways jumbo jet skids off runway at Bangkok airport
A Boeing 747-400 of Thai Airways, registered HS-TGF, was carrying out flight TG679 on October 8, 2018, between Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN), in Guangzhou, China, and Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), in Bangkok, Thailand with 115 people on board when it veered off the runway upon landing, and stopped in the grass.
According to Thai Airways, “there was heavy rain upon landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, and the aircraft experienced a partial excursion from the runway, whereby the aircraft came to a complete stop”. Several planes were delayed at the airport as the aircraft forced one of the runways (19R) to close. After landing on soft ground, the “Queen of the Skies” does not seem to have suffered any damage.
