A new airline appeared on the Canadian horizon, as OWG announced its planned start of operations on July 7, 2020.
The announcement comes after the company received approval from the Minister of Transport to provide international flight services on July 6, 2020. The newly-enacted airline is a subsidiary of Nolinor Aviation, which worked since 2018 to establish OWG in order to serve the leisure market.
Nolinor Aviation is a charter operator in Canada, which provides services to the Canadian far north with its fleet of 10 Boeing 737-200s and 737-300s. Using gravel kits on its 737s, the airline is able to land on unpaved runways in Canada’s northern regions.
OWG plans to use a fleet of Boeing 737-400 aircraft. So far, Nolinor owns one 737-400, while two additional units are due to enter the company’s fleet, planespotters.net data showcases.
“Traditional airlines have chosen to cut the quality of their services year after year with no regard for the passenger experience,” explains the president of the carrier Marco Prud’homme. “Our goal is to win the hearts of Quebecers with a new airline whose mission is to get travelers excited again.”
The interior, which has been refurbished with new seating, will seat 158 passengers in OWG’s aircraft. OWG anticipates the start operations in the “next few months.” Initial routes or destinations have not been announced yet.
