Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) offered a new reskilling and upskilling program for the company’s most pandemic-affected employees. Malaysia Airlines pilots and cabin crew are offered to gain new skills in management, audit, sales or IT helpdesk areas.

Under the HM EDGILE, a new Malaysia Airlines retraining scheme presented on October 8, 2020, nearly 2,000 employees of the company will be trained to work in other fields such as facilities management and audit, sales as well as IT helpdesk.

The retraining program enables employees to support the business sustainability of the airline. Employees who have applied for the scheme will be temporarily assigned to other departments that require the additional workforce. The reskilling program will provide full-time jobs meanwhile allowing the employees to maintain the validity of their job license.

„With the pandemic still showing little sign of improvement, forcing some airlines to halt operations and ground almost fleet, it is important for us to prepare our workforce with new skill sets to become more efficient in their current roles or shift into emerging positions as well as to support the business goals. This is the perfect time for the staff to reinvent themselves,” announced Izham Ismail, the Group CEO of MAG.

MAG announced that the company has already carried out several initiatives by introducing a few virtual learning series for its employees.
