Russia’s flag-carrier Aeroflot celebrates adding its first-ever Airbus A320neo aircraft to its fleet. Aeroflot will become the first operator of the aircraft type in Russia. 

The aircraft, registered as VP-BPQ, is leased from CDB Aviation, the Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing. It arrived in Russia earlier in May 2021. Leased

The Pratt-powered Airbus A320neo has a range of 6,300 km and is able to carry from 150 to 180 passengers in a typical two-class seating. Aeroflot’s first Airbus A320neo is configured to seat up to 156 passengers: 12 in a Business class and 144 in the Economy class. 

In a statement, the Russian air carrier said that it would take an additional eight Airbus A320neo aircraft by the end of 2021. Previously, the airline had announced it was expecting two more A320neos to arrive before the end of May 2021. 

Currently, Aeroflot has a total of 339 aircraft in its fleet, as per planespotters.net data. The largest part of the airline’s fleet consists of Boeing 737 aircraft family with 88 Boeing 737-800s as well as Airbus A320 aircraft family with 66 Airbus A320-200s and one newly-delivered Airbus A320neo.
