Romania to sell main international airport
The Romanian Ministry of Transport has presented a list of assets that are subject to privatization. The document provides for sale of 20-25% of the shares in two major state-owned companies to private investors. These companies are Aeroporturi Bucureşti (CNAB), which manages two airports in the Romanian capital, and Administraţia Porturilor Maritime Constanţa (CNAPM), which manages three ports in the country.
According to the Romanian national news agency, Agerpres, the sale of shares will take place in the form of initial public offerings (IPO) on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. The IPO should take place in the period of 2017-2018.
CNAB operates the Henri Coanda (Otopeni) airport, which is the largest airport in Romania, and the Aurel Vlaicu Airport (Baneasa). The first served about 9.3 million passengers and the second only 12,900 passengers in 2015. The total volume of passenger traffic through Romanian airports was about 13.3 million in 2015.
