Less than a month after Norwegian Air Argentina updated its plans to start operations in the South American country in mid-October, the startup announced on October 1, 2018, the launch of six domestic routes offering passengers affordable flights from Argentine capital Buenos Aires across the country.

Norwegian will initially commence operations on October 16, 2018, with two routes to Córdoba and Mendoza; services to Iguazú and Neuquén are set to start on November 19, 2018, and Bariloche and Salta on December 3, 2018.

As for passengers travelling on Norwegian’s route from London Gatwick (LGW) to Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport (EZE), the carrier’s main hub, they will be able to take advantage of the new flights departing from the city’s domestic airport which is a short taxi or bus transfer away.

The airline states the domestic routes in Argentina will be operated by a modern and efficient fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft, highlighting that passengers will experience the same level of great service and comfort as Norwegian’s European short haul operation.

Domestic flights to six cities across Argentina are available to book now, as there is a change of airport required tickets must be purchased separately from the London Gatwick to Buenos Aires flight.

“The imminent start of our operations in Argentina confirms our long-term commitment to the region and represents a milestone in Norwegian’s history,” says Bjørn Kjos, Norwegian Air Argentina CEO.

“Our new flights will help to improve connectivity, will boost local tourism and increase investment across the country generating a positive impact to local communities.”

“Customers arriving on our long haul service to Buenos Aires can now additionally travel across Argentina with confidence and ease thanks to our new domestic routes,” the carrier’s chief added.

According to the budget airline, flights are available to book now from Buenos Aires to Córdoba, Mendoza, Iguazú, Bariloche, Neuquén and Salta with prices from just £49.70 (about $64.60) one-way.

More specifically: flights to Córdoba are available to book from £49.70 (about $64.60); to Mendoza and Iguazú from £63.80 (about $83.00); to Bariloche, Salta and Neuquén from £68.70 (about $89.40).

Until recently, South America has been an expensive place to fly to. One country, however, has shaken up its airline industry, scrapping regulation on minimum domestic airfares and allowing low-cost travel around the country, and the continent overall, to skyrocket. That country is Argentina. And Norwegian Air is among the many LCCs joining the race, as it prepares to launch its newest subsidiary – Norwegian Air Argentina – in over a month’s time.
