An Aerolineas Argentinas Airbus A330-200, registered as LV-FNK and performing flight AR-1303 from Miami International Airport (MIA), United States, to Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE) in Argentina, was five hours into its flight when it encountered severe turbulences that left 15 people injured.

According to the company’s official statement, the plane, which was carrying 192 people, was cruising close to several thunderstorms when it was hit by the turbulence, which made it climb up by about 2000 feet. Pictures on social media show food and belonging scattered across the floor, as dinner was being served to the passengers.

After acknowledging that 15 people had been injured, the captain requested medical assistance upon landing. Emergency services were awaiting the aircraft that landed four hours later. Eight passengers were taken to a local hospital.
