Jurgis Kairys is 63 years old Lithuanian aerobatic pilot and aeronautical engineer. He has won many awards for his flying and helped develop the Sukhoi Su-26, -29, and -31 aerobatic aircraft. One of his most famous stunts was flying under the bridges of the River Neris in Vilnius. He has also flown upside down under a pedestrian bridge in Kaunas! You can see how fearless he is:
The style of acrobatics we see today was developed over thirty years ago by Lithuanians Stepas Artiškevičius and Jurgis Kairys competing with each other while on the Soviet team and coaching each other. Today every unlimited pilot flies in the aggressive style promoted by the Lithuanians in the 70s. Jurgis' strength has always been Unlimited Freestyle aerobatics which has allowed him to develop his quest for new flight possibilities by himself and his aircraft.
Jurgis is the real legend, who achieved so many goals in his life. Jurgis Kairys has a collection of awards from a variety of international contests and competitions: twice a champion of World Grand Prix of Aerobatics overall champion; a champion of the first Red Bull Air Race in Zeltveg, Austria. And it is not the end! Jurgis was the first to successfully perform the Pugachev's Cobra maneuver in a propeller-driven aircraft and the first aerobatic pilot to hover his aircraft like a helicopter.
All those skills, experience and innovation combined makes Jurgis Kairys one of the highest level and most impressive Airshow pilots as well. In airshows all around the world the performances and special show programmes are unexpected, so every time it is worth to hope for something new and exciting.
