US low-cost airline Frontier to restart hiring pilots

United States low-budget air carrier Frontier Airlines is planning to resume the pilot hiring process in 2021.

Frontier Airlines, a subsidiary of Indigo Partners, intends to open a pilot hiring application window soon, as the airline is preparing to ramp up flying. The current plan is to hire around 100 pilots this year, Frontier spokesperson told Reuters on January 19, 2021. 

On the day, Frontier announced two new nonstop routes from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), Dominican Republic and Cyril E. King Airport (STT), US Virgin Islands. The airline has also announced the resumption of services to Las Vegas (LAS) starting from March 2021.

“We’re thrilled to continue our exceptional growth at Miami’s convenient airport with new nonstop flights to Punta Cana and St. Thomas starting right in time for spring break travel. These new flights will offer unparalleled affordability and access between Miami and two beautiful destinations in the Caribbean,” senior vice president of commercial at Frontier Airlines Daniel Shurz said in a statement. 

Currently, Frontier Airlines has a fleet of 104 aircraft. The fleet consists of all Airbus-manufactured aircraft, namely Airbus A320neos and Airbus A321s. A total of 16 aircraft are currently parked, according to Planespotters.net data. 

AeroTime News reached out to Frontier Airlines for comment and did not receive any answer at the time of publication.
