Bahrain’s flag-carrier Gulf Air announced it would start long-haul operations to Europe with the Airbus A321LR (long range) aircraft, as it was recently delivered from the Airbus centre in Germany.
“The aircraft [Airbus A321neoLR – ed.note] will operate long-haul European routes as well as a selection of GCC destinations,” Gulf Air announced in a statement.
The new Gulf Air Airbus A321LR landed at its new home at Bahrain International Airport (BAH) on February 5, 2021.
The aircraft is the second of the 17 A321neo aircraft order the airline has. The new Airbus A321neoLR is designed with the 70th anniversary Golden Falcon livery, which gives the jet a vintage look. The latest Gulf Air’s delivery also introduces 16 new flat-bed seats and 150 economy class seats.
“This addition will strengthen our position in the medium to long haul markets as it represents an upgraded product to offer best in class service to our passengers,” Zayed R. Alzayani, Chairman of Gulf Air’s Board of Directors, said in a statement.
Gulf Air’s A321neoLR is powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines and is eco-friendly, as it delivers up to 20% fuel burn reduction per seat, up to 14% lower cash operating costs per seat as well as 50% noise reduction.
