An All Nippon Airways Boeing 787 aircraft diverted to Novosibirsk, Russia, after the first officer declared an emergency reporting pilot incapacitation in-flight.

The incident occurred on late April 18, 2021, when All Nippon Airways (ANA) Boeing 787-8, registered as JA814A, was flying a regular international operation from Japan to France. According to the Flightradar24.com data, the jet took off from Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) at 9:43 p.m. and was supposed to land at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDL).

The aircraft was heading over the Novosibirsk region reaching the FL410 (flight level) when the first officer declared a health-related emergency onboard. Noticing stroke symptoms of a facial asymmetry and a sudden headache, the pilot suspected that the Captain had suffered in-flight incapacitation and decided to divert the jet to the nearest airport.

The aircraft turned around and was cleared to descend to FL400. 

About an hour after the descend, the Boeing 787-8 safely landed at Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport (OVB), where the rescue team took the Captain to the local hospital for further medical examination.
