An Air India Boeing 777-300ER was forced to divert to Stockholm, Sweden, due to a mid-flight oil leak in one of its engines.

The Boeing 777-300ER, registered VT-ALK, was operating Air India flight AI106 from New York Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), when it was forced to divert to Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN), Sweden. Due to the oil leak, the pilots of the widebody jet were forced to shut down the right-hand side power plant.

Once the aircraft landed at ARN, oil was seen leaking out of the drain mast during the ground inspection, according to local media reports. India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will investigate the matter.

At the time of writing, the Boeing 777-300ER, which landed at ARN on February 21, 2023, was still at the airport according to flightradar24.com data.
