Biman Bangladesh Airlines has ordered four Airbus A350-900s and six A321neos, adding Airbus aircraft for the first time to a fleet expansion that also includes 25 new Boeing jets.

Airbus announced the firm order on October 7, 2026. The A350s will support Biman’s long-haul network, while the A321neos will serve regional and medium-haul routes from its Dhaka hub.

Biman Chairman Rumee A. Hossain and Airbus India and South Asia President and Managing Director Jürgen Westermeier signed the agreement at a ceremony in Dhaka. Aircraft deliveries are expected to begin in 2030.

The agreement brings Biman’s planned purchases from Airbus and Boeing to 35 aircraft.

In 2023, Bangladeshi officials outlined plans to buy 10 A350s. The deal signed on October 7 instead divides the purchase between the four widebodies and six single-aisle aircraft.

Biman Managing Director and CEO Kaizer Sohel Ahmed said the A350s would serve long-haul routes and the A321neos would give the airline the range and flexibility to open new regional markets. Airbus said the aircraft would support Biman’s plans for North America, Europe and the Middle East.

The Airbus agreement follows two Boeing purchases in 2026. An April 30 deal covered eight 787-10s, two 787-9s and four 737-8s. A further agreement signed on September 23 added five more 787-10s and six 737-8s.

The Boeing deliveries are scheduled to begin in November 2031 and run through 2035.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat said the purchases would help Biman expand its share of the country’s air travel market, which he put at about 20%.

Neither Airbus nor Biman disclosed a price for the 10-aircraft order.
