Boeing has submitted a new four-year contract offer to a union representing 13,000 engineers and scientists, as well as around 4,000 technical staff.
On July 30, 2026, the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) announced that, following negotiations, the union will be endorsing the offer to its members.
The union argues that the proposal “offers real and meaningful value to the membership, delivers real positive change to work/life balance and delivers on the membership’s priorities”.
Two separate agreements will be discussed among the union’s Bargaining Unit Councils (BUCs), one for the professional unit and one for the technical.
“During negotiations, team members said they felt that Boeing executives had heard their concerns and responded to them in respectful and collaborative ways,” SPEEA said. “This attitude, they said, seems to represent true movement by Boeing and a desire to rebuild trust with its SPEEA-represented workforce.”

Under union rules, details on the offer are not immediately available to the public or even members.
However, SPEEA has previously stated that progress had been made with Boeing over retirement benefits, flexible work locations and virtual work, mandatory overtime limits, group health benefits, and the company’s use of non-Boeing labor.
Boeing’s ‘final offer’ will be presented to the union’s BUCs for review and discussion.
“The BUCs are charged with issuing their recommendation on the offers to SPEEA members, and the BUCs have the power to call for a strike authorization vote. No strike could occur until after the current contracts expire on Oct. 6,” SPEEA added.
Once the BUCs have reviewed the offer and made their recommendations, the offers will be presented to SPEEA members.
