De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (De Havilland Canada) has delivered the first of two Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines.

The delivery marks the introduction of the Twin Otter Classic 300-G into Ethiopian Airlines’ fleet, the carrier having placed an order for the aircraft at Paris Air Show in June 2025.

“The delivery of our first Twin Otter Classic 300-G is an important milestone in our regional growth strategy,” Mesfin Tasew, Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, said. “This aircraft will enable us to better serve remote areas while supporting tourism, economic development, and essential air services throughout the region.”

Tasew previously announced that that the aircraft would be configured with additional equipment for multi-function missions including air ambulance, airport calibration and charter services.

De Havilland Canada showcased the Twin Otter Classic 300-G at Paris Air Show last year while it was awaiting final certification.

The Classic 300-G is a short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft, the newest generation of the Twin Otter. It is designed to carry passengers, move cargo and perform special missions.

“The Twin Otter’s proven reliability, versatility, and ability to operate in challenging environments make it well suited to the diverse missions Ethiopian Airlines will undertake across the region,” Ryan DeBrusk, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, De Havilland Canada, said. “We value the trust Ethiopian Airlines has placed in De Havilland Canada and look forward to supporting their continued growth and commitment to connecting communities throughout East Africa.”

The aircraft features Garmin G1000 integrated flight deck, new lightweight cabin seats, enhanced electrical systems, and upgraded cockpit ergonomics.

The second Twin Otter Classic 300-G is due to be delivered later this year.
