Emirates and Real Madrid have signed a new shirt sponsorship agreement that is estimated to be the most lucrative deal in sporting history.

On June 9, 2026, the two giants from the aviation and sporting worlds announced that Emirates would remain the Real Madrid shirt sponsor until 2031.

While not confirmed by either party, Spanish media has reported that the deal is worth around $125 million (€100 million) a year.

Manchester City’s shirt sponsorship with Etihad Airways was considered to be the previously highest valued at around $87 million (£65 million) a year.

Under the new five-season contract, Emirates will continue as Real Madrid’s official principal sponsor and airline partner of both the men’s and women’s team.

This includes Emirates branding appearing across Real Madrid jerseys, training kits, and team staff clothing across all major competitions.

Boutros Boutros, Emirates’ Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brand, said the Dubai-carrier had a “long history of championing football”.

“What we have built with Real Madrid is a shining example of that commitment, putting fans at the heart of the game, giving them access to moments they will never forget, and inspiring the next generation of fans and players,” Boutros said.

The partnership between Real Madrid and Emirates is one of the most iconic in world football, stretching way back to 2011 when they first teamed up.

The collaboration expanded further in 2013 when the airline became the club’s official jersey sponsor.

“Our partnership reflects the strong and unique relationship we have built over the years.” Florentino Pérez, President of Real Madrid, said. “We have stood side by side throughout one of the most successful periods in our club’s history, and we remain committed to continuing this journey together.”

The sponsorship also strengthens the airline’s presence in basketball, covering a newly signed multi-year agreement making Emirates official main sponsor of Real Madrid’s basketball club through 2031.

Emirates highly values the sporting arena as part of its strategy to promote and advertise the airline. Emirates branding is also displayed on the shirts of Arsenal, AC Milan, Benfica, and Olympique Lyonnais.

Its full sport sponsorship portfolio also includes tennis, rugby, basketball, sailing, cycling, golf, horse-racing, cricket and Aussie Rules Football.
