FedEx pilots are expected to vote on a new tentative contract agreed between airline management and representatives from the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA).
On April 8, 2026, both FedEx and ALPA issued statements confirming that a deal in principle had been reached after years of negotiations between the two parties.
The amended collective bargaining agreement will be reviewed by the FedEx Master Executive Council (MEC) and if approved, it will then be subject to a ratification vote by the FedEx pilots.
Negotiations between ALPA and FedEx management were conducted under the supervision of the National Mediation Board.
“This tentative agreement was reached after lengthy and intensive mediation under the supervision of the National Mediation Board,” said Capt. Jose Nieves, Chair of the FedEx ALPA Master Executive Council. “The next step is completing the MEC review and providing pilots with the information needed to evaluate the agreement.”
FedEx said that if ratified, the new contract will provide over 5,000 of its pilots with an “industry-leading collective bargaining agreement”.

In September 2025, FedEx pilots issued a formal vote of no confidence in FedEx Corporation CEO Rajesh Subramaniam.
Pilot representatives said that Subramaniam has failed to uphold the “people-first” culture that founder Fred Smith established when he built FedEx around the philosophy of “People-Service-Profit.”
FedEx pilots have previously rejected proposed tentative agreements in votes despite MEC approval.
