RTX has appointed Jill Albertelli as the next president of engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney after the current head Shane Eddy confirmed his decision to retire.
Albertelli will become Pratt & Whitney’s new torchbearer during a challenging period for the company surrounding engine durability and manufacturing issues.
On September 15, 2026, Pratt & Whitney owner RTX said Albertelli will step into the role as president from January 1, 2027, with Eddy remaining at the company through March 2027 as a special advisor to support the transition.
Albertelli is currently the president of Pratt & Whitney’s Military Engines division, having been appointed to the role in December 2021.
During that time RTX said Albertelli “secured the company’s sole source propulsion position on the F-35 fighter aircraft and improved F135 engine delivery”.
RTX also credits Albertelli for improved “quality performance and expanded sustainment capability and capacity to ensure mission readiness for military customers”.
“Jill is a seasoned and highly respected leader with over three decades of experience across nearly every corner of Pratt & Whitney,” RTX Chairman and CEO, Chris Calio, said. “Her proven track record and deep understanding of the business and our customer base make her the right person to lead Pratt & Whitney into the future.”
Allbertelli, who joined Pratt & Whitney in 2016, has experience in engineering, manufacturing operations, quality, supply chain management, commercial programs, sales, maintenance repair operations, as well as transformation and strategy, according to RTX. Albertelli will report to Chris Calio.
Shane Eddy calls time on nine years at Pratt & Whitney
Eddy joined Pratt & Whitney in 2016 and assumed the position of president in 2022. He previously worked at GE Aviation (now known as GE Aerospace), Sikorsky Aircraft and Bell.
RTX said he guided Pratt & Whitney through a “multi-year transformation effort”, including the “production and sustainment ramp for two critically important programs for RTX – the Geared Turbo Fan and F135 engines”.
“Shane’s steadfast leadership – paired with his relentless focus on our CORE operating system, our people and our customers – helped Pratt & Whitney achieve record sales growth and positioned the business for continued success,” Calio said.
