In the space of two days, German flag-carrier Lufthansa has relaunched two major Airbus A380 international services sure to please its passengers.

On October 25, 2023, Lufthansa announced that the Airbus A380 would be returning to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The following day, it confirmed that services to Bangkok, Thailand, would also restart.

In both cases, the airline said the relaunch was prompted by increasing demand for the routes and surging passenger numbers in general.

The first new daily Lufthansa A380 flight (LH452) left Munich Airport (MUC) on October 26, 2023, at 1pm local time, landing at LAX just after 3pm later that day

Flight LH453 then left LAX on October 26, 2023, at around 6pm and is due to touchdown at MUC during the afternoon of October 27, 2023.

The first A380 flight to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) from Munich will commence on October 28, 2023.

Lufthansa has chosen Bangkok as the first destination in the Asia Pacific region to receive its A380 aircraft, with its earliest flight to the country dating back more than 64 years.

Anlee Do, General Manager Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines & the Mekong region, Lufthansa Group, said: “We are increasing capacity between Thailand and Germany due to strong demand and are delighted to offer Thai passengers direct service to Munich aboard the ever-popular A380.  We are the only airline group operating the A380 non-stop between Thailand and Europe and this signifies our strong commitment to the Thai market.”

Seating arrangements on Lufthansa’s A380 are made up of eight First Class seats, 78 Business Class seats, 52 Premium Economy seats and 371 economy seats.

In 2022, Lufthansa decided to reactivate the Airbus superjumbo. By the end of 2025, a total of eight A380s will once again be deployed for operations to and from Munich.
