Lufthansa has called upon the services of Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) company CityJet to provide five Bombardier CRJ1000s on wet lease.

CityJet confirmed on February 26, 2024, that the five Bombardier CRJ1000s will operate on behalf of Lufthansa across Europe from March 2024 until the end of October 2024.

In a similar move last year, CityJet operated four aircraft on behalf of Lufthansa Group airlines. The four planes were split between Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa.

“We are delighted to once again be able to provide service on behalf of Lufthansa as we continue to develop our wet lease business model at CityJet. This year, we will have a total of seventeen aircraft under contract with Lufthansa and SAS Scandinavian Airlines and look forward to continued development with our current and new customers into the future,” Cathal O’Connell, Chief Commercial Officer of CityJet, said.

Under the new wet lease agreement, CityJet will provide the aircraft and crew but fly on Lufthansa routes.

As well as Lufthansa, the Irish-based firm has also previously provided services for Aer Lingus, Air France, KLM and SAS.

While CityJet’s head office is based at Dublin Airport (DUB), the majority of its 600 staff are in Copenhagen and Stockholm, while a planning unit is located in London.
