Porter Airlines has announced plans to retrofit its entire De Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprop fleet with new cabin interiors.
The Canadian carrier, which aims to boost the passenger experience it provides on its regional fleet, has selected the Expliseat’s TiSeat 2V to equip a total of 29 aircraft.
The French seat maker claims that the seat, which has a carbon fiber and titanium structure, is the world’s lightest in its category. The seat will also boast features custom-made for Porter, including seat and back cushions, updated tray tables, and integrated personal electronic device holders for hands-free viewing. The first-row seats will also feature tray tables designed to provide additional personal space.
In a press release published on July 27, 2026, Kent Woodside, Porter’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), said: “Our passengers told us that seat comfort is a meaningful part of their experience, even on shorter regional flights. Updating seats, along with other cabin upgrades, will noticeably refresh and modernize the overall environment,”
Legroom and cabin configuration on Porter’s Dash 8-400 fleet will remain unchanged, with the aircraft featuring 78-seats in a two-two configuration, offering either 32 or 30 inches of legroom depending on the cabin class, whether PorterReserve or PorterClassic.
With this project, Porter Airlines has placed its turboprop fleet back in the spotlight. These aircraft primarily operate short haul routes across the eastern provinces of Canada and the northeastern United States. In recent years, the Canadian airline had been focused on expanding its Embraer E195 E2 regional jet fleet. Porter Airlines ordered 75 of the type (plus 25 purchase options), of which more than 50 are already in service.
