Samson Sky has secured investment worth $80 million from Dubai-based Matin Group to support production of its Switchblade flying car.
On September 15, 2026, the US company said the funds would be used to build its first 180,000 square foot Switchblade production facility.
Samson Sky and Matlin Group have signed a Joint Investment Agreement to “accelerate into commercial production”.
According to Sam Bousfield, CEO and Founder of Samson Sky, and the designer of the Switchblade, a further $20 million still needs to be raised for full production funding.
“At the start, Mr. Matin saw the Switchblade’s relevance, and its ability to make a difference in the world, and our two companies quickly advanced to a position of trust,” Bousfield said. “We are proud to have such a forward-thinking partner as we roll the Switchblade out to the world.”
Samson Sky said its ambassador, former aerobatic pilot Anna V. Grebenshchikova, was “instrumental in bringing the two organizations together”.

The Switchblade flying car is a hybrid-electric driving and flying vehicle, designed for two people and their luggage.
The Switchblade transforms from driving to flying mode in three minutes at the push of a button. The Switchblade had its successful official first flight in November 2023.
Samson Sky notes that the Switchblade is an experimental category aircraft, so the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) does not provide certification as it would for aircraft that are fully produced in a factory by the manufacturer.
“With all Experimental aircraft, the FAA designates that the owner must build 51% of the vehicle,” Samson sky explained. “All Switchblade owners will spend one week at the Samson Builder Assist Center, building 51% of their Switchblade. Following this, Samson will complete their vehicle.”
