PeakJet, a new Swiss semi-private airline, has announced that it has completed its first commercial flight between Zürich (ZRH) and Palma de Mallorca (PMI) on August 1, 2026.
The aircraft, an Embraer Legacy 650 capable of carrying up to 12 passengers, was operated by the German subsidiary of VistaJet.
The Swiss company’s business model is similar to that of operators such as JSX and Aero, both based in the United States, offering a passenger experience comparable in some respects to that of executive aviation but on fixed schedules and at much lower price points when compared to traditional business class.
Unlike its US equivalents, however, neither PeakJet nor its parent company, Peak Plus AG, holds an air operator certificate (AOC) of their own. Instead, PeakJet defines itself as a marketplace, which aggregates and sells capacity on executive aircraft operating on fixed schedules.
After launching the route to Mallorca, PeakJet expects to open new direct links between Zurich and both Nice-Côte d’Azur (NCE) and Málaga (AGP), in a clear drive to appeal to the high-end leisure market.
PeakJet is the brainchild of Gianni Tronza, who has held a lengthy career as senior executive at airlines such as Crossair, British Airways, American Airlines and Etihad, and Peter Baumgartner, who has previously served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Etihad Airways.
“For years, private aviation offered only two options: buy or charter the whole jet or stay on the ground. Today we’ve proven there’s a third way — one built on technology our industry has barely tapped into,” Baumgartner said in a press release announcing completion of PeakJet’s first flight.
