The US Coast Guard has located a debris field during its extensive search for a missing Gulfstream G100 and the six people travelling on the flight.

On October 3, 2026, the Coast Guard announced that its search crews located debris off the coast of Nantucket, an isolated island off Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

The Coast Guard said the debris has been “confirmed to be associated with the missing aircraft”.

The Gulfstream G100 medical transport aircraft, registered C-GRJP, was flying from Bermuda to Boston. At around 02:00, local time the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) alerted the Coast Guard that contact with the aircraft had been lost.

There were six people aboard the aircraft, including four Canadian nationals and two Bermudian nationals.

Among the aircraft deployed to search are a HC-144 Ocean Sentry, HC-130 Hercules, MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter, a HC-130 aircraft and two HH-60 helicopters.

In the Coast Guard’s update on October 3, 2026, it said 1,644 square miles have been searched in over approximately 27 hours. Search efforts continued throughout the night.

The Gulfstream G100 is operated by Canadian firm Latitude Air Ambulance and was returning from Bermuda with a patient and a relative. Also onboard were two pilots and two medical staff.

Contact between pilot and ATC

In audio recorded by LiveATC.net, an air traffic controller can be saying, “Roger, you said you’re coming in blind. Is that what you said?”

The controller then asked: “Are you declaring an emergency, or no?”

Despite further attempts by the air traffic controller to contact the aircraft, no response from the pilots was audible.

Previously, the pilot had reported electrical issues and declared an emergency. A storm was looming in the area, according to reports.

The Coast Guard will hold a press conference on October 4, 2026, at 11:00, at Coast Guard Base Boston to provide an update on the search.
