USS Abraham Lincoln, a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, has departed Thailand after arriving for a five-day stay to “recharge”.
On September 6, 2026, it was confirmed that the flagship of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 3, had left Laem Chabang, to resume routine operations in the US 7th Fleet.
USS Abraham Lincoln arrived in Thailand on September 2, 2026, following an extended 286-day deployment at sea that included involvement in the Strait of Hormuz naval blockade.
Nearly five thousand sailors and marines visited the Sri Racha and Pattaya region during the trip where the US Navy’s Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) program worked with local Thai businesses to organize tours and events throughout the local area.
“We would like to thank the people of Thailand for their incredible hospitality,” US Navy Capt. Dan Keeler, Abraham Lincoln’s Commanding Officer, said. “This port visit to Pattaya was a tremendous opportunity for this crew to recharge and a highlight for the strike group. Thailand has such a rich culture and history, coupled with incredible hospitality, and that all shone through in this port visit.”
He added: “We are grateful to our Thai allies for hosting us, and we look forward to continuing our mission here in 7th Fleet, alongside Thailand and our other regional allies and partners.”
Leading up to the stay in Thailand, there were an increasing number of reports that some individuals on board USS Abraham Lincoln were suffering from health issues due to the lengthy deployment.
