Vertical Aerospace raises $100 million to further Valo eVTOL development

Vertical Aerospace announced on August 10, 2026, that it has secured an additional US$100 million in funding commitments from both existing and new investors. 

The fresh funds will be deployed to support the firm’s next steps in the path to certification and commercialization of the Valo eVTOL, including the upcoming Critical Design Review (CDR). 

Other aspects of the eVTOL program that will be funded by the latest funding round include the expansion of the company’s Energy Centre, dedicated to battery production, and the establishment of its future large- scale production facilities in the UK. The latter may also receive financial support from the UK government to the tune of £10 million ($13.5 million). 

The CDR is an important milestone because it “locks in” the entire aircraft design and each systems and components. After its completion, no further changes will be possible ahead of its certification testing. 

The new US$100 million funding round is composed of three components:
