World's Best Airports Were Announced. Who Took The Trophy This Year?

This Wednesday world’s best airports of 2018 were announced by the Skytrax. Passengers were ranking their favorite airports in many categories, however, the winner was clear. Skytrax World Airport Awards were held at Passenger Terminal EXPO Stockholm, Sweden this Wednesday. Awards are based on the survey filled by 13,73 million passengers in more than 500 airports. The research took place from August 2017 until February this year. For the sixth consecutive year, Singapore‘s Changi Airport was acknowledged as the best airport in the world. Disruptive growth, innovations and impeccable customer service did its job and allowed Changi airport to stay in heights. This is the first time in the history when an airport wins this award for 6 years in a row. Since 2000, when awards were held for the first time, Changi has already triumphed for 9 times.   World's Best Airports Were Announced. So Which One Took The Trophy? Singapore's Changi Airport When presenting the award, CEO of Skytrax, Edward Plaisted, expressed his pride of Changi airport “To be voted the World’s Best Airport for the sixth consecutive year is fabulous achievement for Changi Airport, and this award yet again demonstrates the airport’s popularity with international air travellers,” Changi airport is very well known for its incredible design, comfortability and of course outdoor gardens, pools and other leisure facilities open for the passengers. Nevertheless, they are putting major efforts in their customer experience. Last year they opened Terminal 4 worth $940 million. It will serve additional 16 million passengers a year. The terminal is as big as 27 football fields and covers 225,000 square meters.    All 5 first ranked airports are based in Asia.  South Korea‘s Seoul Incheon was a runner-up leaving behind Tokyo Haneda which was second last year. Hong Kong climbed one position higher comparing to 2017 and ranked fourth. Doha Hamad ranked fifth and left Munich out of top 5. Unfortunately, none of America‘s airports were ranked among 20 best airports. Skytrax emphasized that this survey is completely independent and not under control of any airport. It is designed as a quality benchmark for the world's airport industry.
