Duty free shops might appear in the arrival areas Russian airports starting from 2018.

Such an opportunity for the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EurAsEC) will be created by the new Customs Code, which will enter into power on January 1, 2018, according to Dmitry Nekrasov, director of the department of customs legislation and law enforcement practice of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

In addition, according to the Customs Code, the opening of such stores is expected in aviation, sea, railway and car checkpoints.

Nekrasov also said that to implement such an opportunity in Russia, a law is needed that will authorize the government to issue a list of checkpoints where it is allowed to create duty free shops.

At the moment, such a bill is in development at the Ministry of Finance, he added.
