Saudia gets new chairman
On the 9th of January, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued a royal decree naming Ghassan bin Abdulrahman al-Shabal as the new chairman for state-owned Saudi Arabian Airlines (commonly known as Saudia).
According to the information provided by the carrier, Shabal will be replacing ex-chairman Sulaiman al-Hamdan.
Saudi state news agency SPA said that the carrier’s board would include representative of ministries of finance, economy and civil service, as well as the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
In November 2016, Saudi Arabian Airlines announced the appointment of Jaan Albrecht as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Saudia Air Transport Company (Saudia). Albrecht will be joining the airline at the beginning of January 2017 reporting directly to the Director General, Saleh N. Al-Jasser.
