United Airlines, pax up by 2.6% in December 2016
United Airlines (UAL) reported December 2016 operational results. UAL's December 2016 consolidated traffic (revenue passenger miles - RPMs) increased 2.6% and consolidated capacity (available seat miles - ASMs) increased 2.6% year over year. At the same time, UAL's December 2016 consolidated passenger load factor (PLF) increased 0.1 points YoY.
The company said that it now expects fourth-quarter 2016 consolidated passenger unit revenue to decline 1.25 to 1.75% compared to the fourth quarter of 2015.
In December 2016, the domestic traffic (RPMs) reached 8,051,111 passengers or increased by 3.7% YoY. At the same time, the international traffic was up by 3.4% YoY when the airline carried 7,596,649 passengers in December 2016.
The domestic PLF was dropped by 0.6% YoY, and the international PLF was up by 0.6% YoY.
UAL which includes United Airlines and its regional carrier United Express operate more than 4,500 flights a day to 339 airports across five continents. In 2016, United and United Express operated more than 1.6 million flights carrying more than 143 million customers. UAL now operates a fleet of 738 aircraft.
