United Airlines reports August 2017 operational results, revealing passenger traffic increase of 2.1% and the load factor downfall of 0.2% in August 2017 compared to August 2016.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by Harvey and those impacted or currently in the path of Hurricane Irma,” said Scott Kirby, president of United Airlines. “We are doing all we can to assist during this extraordinary time, and we stand with all of those affected as they prepare for and recover from these two unprecedented storms.”

The passenger traffic increased by 2.1% from 13,178,000 in August 2016 to 13,457,000 in August 2017, while revenue passenger miles (RPM) increased by 2.3%. Available seat miles (ASM) decreased by 2.4%. The load factor fell by 0.2 percentage points from 85.5% to 85.3%

Simultaneously, the year-to-date results reveal an increase of passenger traffic by 4% (from 95,173,000 to 99,001,000), RPM increase of 3.3%, ASM up by 3.5% and load factor decrease of 0.2 percentage points.
