Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) signed a Framework Purchase Agreement of 30 C919 aircraft with EverBright Financial Leasing in Beijing on June 13th, 2017.  Thus, COMAC had 24 domestic and foreign customers of C919 aircraft and secured a total of 600 orders.

The C919 is a national project initiative launched by the ruling Communist Party of China. The work on the twin-engine single-aisle COMAC C919 began back in 2006. This was the first attempt of the Chinese aircraft designers to gain a foothold in the niche of single-aisle jets.

Comac C919,  China’s first ever indigenous airliner has successfully performed its maiden flight, taking off from Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) at 2:00 PM local time. Production issues withheld the plane’s maiden flight at least twice since 2014. The first appearance of the jet took place in November 2015 at a roll-out ceremony in Shanghai.

Although the C919 falls under the well-known label “Made in China” (the same is indicated on any iPhone’s cover), foreign firms play key roles by supplying systems, as well as the engines, which are manufactured by the CFM.
