Germania’s plane collides with parked El Al jet
Germania’s Boeing 737-700 collided with a parked El Al Israel Airlines Boeing 767-300ER on March 28, 2018. The aircraft was preparing for takeoff at Tel Aviv International Airport when it crashed into the tail end of Israeli plane. No injuries were reported.
According to the airport spokesman Ofer Lefler “heavy damage was caused, mainly to the German plane,” The Independent reports. Vertical stabilizer of Berlin-bound B737-700 and horizontal stabilizer of Rome-bound B767-300ER were damaged in the accident. Times of Israel report that the damage to El Al aircraft is estimated to cost “millions of shekels” to repair.
Lefler also noted that none of the passengers were in any danger during the accident, and were later put on alternative flights. The incident is under investigation, according to the spokesman.
Preliminary reports say that a driver of a tow truck moving the German plane from the terminal may be responsible for the collision, New York Post reports.
