Vietjet plans to further bolster its all Airbus A320 Family aircraft fleet. Under a deal signed directly with the manufacturer, the Vietnamese airline is to add 20 Airbus A321XRL planes ‒ five of which are conversions from its previous A321neo order.

Airbus announced the news on October 31, 2019, adding that “Vietjet will be among the first airlines to receive the A321XLR”. Officially launched in June 2019, Airbus A321XLR  (Xtra Long Range) is the long-range version of Airbus’ best-selling A321neo Family. It is scheduled to enter service in 2023.

Vietjet is an all-Airbus carrier. Its fleet, currently standing at 67 aircraft, is composed of A320 and A321 jets. The airline already has an order for 123 A321neo aircraft directly with Airbus, of which only 12 airplanes have been delivered.

Also part of the deal includes training agreement with Airbus Services, under which Airbus will place two new A320 Family full flight simulators at Vietjet’s Ho Chi Minh City training centre and provide a range of training services.
