Changi Airport Group to invest in Pune Airport
Changi Airport International has agreed to speed up assistance for Pune Airport, said chief minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis on October 7, 2017, the India Times informs.
„Changi Airport is the best in the world and has bagged many awards,“ said Devendra Fadnavis. „Their collaboration will definitely boost the proposed airport“.
The new international airport at Purandar will be called Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje Pune International Airport. The Airport should be spread over 2,400 hectares and located 12 miles from Pune city. It will have two airstrips, 2 miles long each. The airport would have 6 different approach routes. Ring Road will provide connectivity from all corners of the city to this airport, Hindustan Times reports.
The airport development project headed by India’s Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) and was scheduled to commence in 2015, according to Centre for Aviation (CAPA). Airports Authority of India expects the construction of the airport to take at least 6 years.
Singaporean companies will invest not only in the development of the Pune Airport but also the city. It is agreed that Singapore based companies Ascendas-Singbridge and Semcorp Development, which had formed a consortium for the development of Indian city Amravati in May 2017, will also help in planning for Pune metropolitan region.
