An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 hit and killed a bear upon landing in an airport in Alaska, United States.
The Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-700 (registered N615AS) was operating as flight AS66 departing from Anchorage Ted Stevens International Airport (ANC) and was due to stop in Cordova Airport (CDV), Yakutat Airport (YAK) and Juneau Airport (JNU) in Alaska, United States, before finishing its journey in Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
However, the journey was cut short on November 14, 2020. As the Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 landed in Yakutat Airport (YAK), the aircraft hit a bear. According to local media reports, the bear was killed after the 737-700 hit it with its left-hand engine. Its cub survived and no passengers or crew onboard were injured.
The aircraft is still parked at the airport whereupon the incident took place. Passengers onboard Alaska Airlines flight 66 were picked up by another aircraft of the same airline and taken to Anchorage International Airport (ANC), where the carrier proceeded to rebook passengers on other flights in order for them to reach their destinations.
