Comments from Qatar Airways CEO

“We are delighted to continue rebuilding our network, resuming routes and adding new destinations. We have made it our priority to not only restart most of our existing destinations as soon as possible but also to launch new routes,” said Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al-Baker in a statement.

According to Qatar Airways, the airline’s strategic investment in a fuel-efficient, twin-engine aircraft, including the largest fleet of Airbus A350 aircraft, has enabled it to resume flying throughout COVID-19 crisis and positions it to lead the stable recovery of air travel.

Qatar Airways currently operates over 700 flights per week and flies to “just over” 100 destinations, according to Al Baker. However, the airline plans to increase the destinations to 125 by the end of the IATA winter season.
