Taiwanese carrier EVA Air introduces a new flight concept – speed-dating event in the skies.
Taiwanese airline EVA Air with travel experience company Mobius are launching speed dating events during three-hour flights to nowhere.
The flights are set to take place on Christmas, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Each flight will depart from Taoyuan International airport in Taipei, then circle Taiwan’s island for several hours. The full-circle date on board will be followed by a two-hour date back on land.
Unlike a typical flight, participants, 20 men and 20 women, will not be able to choose their seats. Instead, travelers will be assigned to a seat in pairs in a similar fashion as in lottery. However, during the flight they will be able to mingle with those in other rows.
“Because of Covid-19, EVA Air has been organizing “faux travel” experiences to fulfill people’s desire for travel. When single men and women travel, apart from enjoying the fun in travel, they may wish to meet someone ‒ like a scene in a romantic movie,” Chiang Tsung-Wei said, CNN Travel reported.
Taiwan’s love flights received a good reaction, as the first flight was sold out within a week. The cost for such experience is $295 per person.
Flights to nowhere trend has soared particularly in Asia-Pacific region, as the coronavirus pandemic has stopped most air travels. The concept served as a method of sightseeing with travelers getting a view of famous landmarks.
Therefore, daytime love flights will fly over the island’s east coast with the mountain view when the nighttime trips will soar over the western shore with illuminated city view.
