On December 28, 2020, Etihad Airways announced having launched charter flight services, as the airline seeks to expand its business, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic impact on the aviation industry.

The new charter flight services would be customizable, as the flight options would include a dedicated passenger service, cargo or a combined passenger and cargo flight service.

In 2020, Etihad Airways has flown over 500 charters, including passenger, government and humanitarian flights, the airline said.

“While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the commercial aviation industry, charter flights provide a convenient alternative to travel, providing customers with the flexibility to choose the departure time, destination and routing,” Alex Featherstone, Vice President Network Planning & Alliances at Etihad Airways, said.
