Spirit Airlines, an LCC based in Florida (USA), took delivery of the very first A320neo for a US customer on the 11th of October 2016. It is the first of 50 A320neo Family aircraft the low-cost carrier has ordered. All of Spirit’s A320neo Family aircraft will be powered by Pratt & Whitney Pure Power PW1100-JM engines.

The aircraft will be operated under a lease agreement with AerCap and it is the first of 5 A320neo aircraft to be delivered to Spirit Airlines by AerCap, with a further 4 A320neo aircraft on order, expected to deliver through 2016.

The A320neo delivered is the 89th aircraft to join Spirit’s growing fleet.

Airbus has delivered the first A321, assembled at Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama, to Spirit Airlines. The delivered aircraft is the 15th A321 received by the airline and the 10th A321 assembled in the US.

Airbus claimed that the A320neo Family incorporates the latest technologies including new generation engines and Sharklets, which together deliver more than 15 percent fuel savings from day one and 20 percent by 2020.
