Indonesia’s LCC Citilink, a subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia, said that on the 28th of December 2016 the company has put one of its pilots under investigation after a report of an on-duty pilot allegedly under alcohol influence.

The pilot was supposed to fly from Surabaya in East Java to Jakarta on a flight scheduled to take off at 5:15 AM. However, according to the Indonesian Ministry of Transport quoted by The Jakarta Post, the passengers were baffled by an unclear announcement from the cockpit. It raised suspicion that the pilot was drunk.

Many passengers were reported to disembark the aircraft soon after the announcement. The incident then caused the delay of the flight.

Air India decided to introduce a formal punishment for drunk pilots.

In a company statement, Citilink spokesperson said that it has taken an initial drug and alcohol test on the pilot and the test result was negative.

The airline also said that it has decided to replace the pilot on that day and the flight numbered QG800 departed for Jakarta at 06:20 AM with all 154 passengers.
