Argentina’s first LCC receives its first aircraft
Flybondi.com, Argentina’s first low cost airline received the first aircraft in its fleet. The Boeing 737-800 with CFM engines and all-economy seating configuration was delivered by SMBC Aviation Capital and is scheduled to open the airline’s operations in 2018.
Flybondi.com is a start-up, ultra-low cost airline with plans to start commercial operations in early January 2018 following the much anticipated deregulation of the Argentinian airline marketplace. This B737 will be employed on Flybondi.com’s first routes from Cordoba and El Palomar, Buenos Aires to Argentina’s main cities.
“We are delighted to welcome this B737-800 as the first aircraft in our fleet and the start of our next phase of launching the airline,” said Julian Cook, CEO of Flybondi.com. “This is an exciting time in the development of our airline and we look forward to serving our future customers with this aircraft. We also look forward to working with and growing our relationship with SMBC Aviation Capital into the future.”
This is SMBC Aviation Capital’s first aircraft with Flybondi.com and is also SMBC Aviation Capital’s first aircraft to deliver into the Argentinian market. The aircraft recently underwent a modification program in Asia and delivered to Flybondi.com in November.
“We are very pleased to add Flybondi.com as our newest customer and Argentina as a new country to our list of airline partners,” said Brian Harvey, Chief Marketing Officer of SMBC Aviation Capital. “This is an exciting time for Flybondi.com as the airline commences operations in Argentina and we at SMBC Aviation Capital are pleased to be able to play a supporting role in the launch of the airline.”
