Air Mauritius expands its network with three Airbus A350s

Air Mauritius has ordered three Airbus A350 aircraft to grow its fleet

Air Mauritius has ordered three Airbus A350 aircraft at the Paris Air Show, bringing its fleet of the type to a new total of seven. 

The order was jointly announced by the airline and the European plane maker during the Paris Air Show 2023, with Air Mauritius expanding its fleet of four Airbus A350-900, two A330-900neo, and one A330-200 aircraft. 

“Air Mauritius is proud to renew its confidence in Airbus and its products, continuing a three-decade long partnership. The additional A350-900 aircraft will help us strengthen our European network and secure further growth in other markets,” said Kresimir Kucko, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Mauritius. 

According to Christian Scherer, Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International at Airbus, the A350’s “greater range capability, better economics, passenger capacity and comfort”, the aircraft is perfect for connecting Mauritius to the rest of the world. 

“We compliment Air Mauritius on putting the A350 at the heart of its long-haul fleet modernisation programme,” added Scherer. 

Currently, the airline also has two outstanding orders for the Airbus A350-900, according to ch-aviation.com data. Previously, it has also operated seven Airbus A340-300, two Boeing 767-200ER, and one 767-300ER aircraft in its twin-aisle segment. 

The flag carrier of the Indian Ocean island nation also has three ATR 72-500 aircraft in its fleet, according to ch-aviation.com data.
