Airbus needs to target over 100 aircraft deliveries a month if the European manufacturer is to reach its annual goal for the year of around 870.

On October 8, 2026, Airbus confirmed that, across September 2026, the company had delivered 72 aircraft to 37 customers, including Delta Air Lines, British Airways and Emirates.

Over the course of the year so far, Airbus has delivered 547 aircraft and therefore requires 323 further deliveries – around 108 per month – to reach the magic 870.

Airbus delivered 73 aircraft in September 2025 and 507 through the first nine months of last year.

The 72 aircraft deliveries in September 2026 marked a significant improvement on the 57 jets delivered in August 2026. In June 2026, Airbus delivered 67 aircraft.

Among the notable deliveries in September 2026, was the first A320 family aircraft assembled at Airbus’ second Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Tianjin, China. The A320neo was delivered to China Eastern Airlines on September 22, 2026.

A330neo delivery woes

Last month, Airbus delivered two A330neos and three A350s. Based on previous projections, Airbus aims to deliver around four A330neos each month, rising to five a month during 2029.

Airbus made no A330neo deliveries in June and July 2026, and only one, to Starlux Airlines, in August 2026.

In September 2026, news surfaced that Airbus staff were inspecting every A330neo at its facilities, over concerns relating to the horizontal tail plane.

Reuters later reported that the issue had arisen when a tool was found in the structure of an A330neo during an inspection before delivery.

Airbus has since contacted several airlines to request that, during routine maintenance, they carry out extra inspections to ensure that no other aircraft have been affected.

In its statement, Airbus announced that it was asking operators to carry out the inspection during planned maintenance, in anticipation that checks may later become mandatory.

A specific number of A330neos built between 2021 and July 2026 have been identified for additional checks.

Airbus orders

In September 2026, Airbus received orders for 17 aircraft. These included a purchase from Air Cairo for 15 A320neos and a second from FlyOne Armenia for two A321neos.

In August 2026, Airbus had 67 orders, including a Shenzhen Airlines order for 40 A321neos. An undisclosed customer also purchased eight A350Fs.

In July 2026, the planemaker received 204 orders and in June 2026 it had 71. The 17 orders in September 2026 marks Airbus’ lowest monthly total this year.
