Philippine Airlines has announced that it is about to open up a fourth Australian destination: Perth, Western Australia.
The Philippine flag carrier will start running direct services between Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) and Perth Airport (PER) as of March 27, 2023.
In its announcement, Philippine Airlines has claimed that, with a flight time of around 7 hours, the direct flight will save travelers 4-6 hours in comparison to other airlines that require a stopover and flight connections in a third country.
The thrice-weekly service will operate every Monday, Thursday and Saturday, using the airline’s long-range Airbus A321neo fleet.
“We are delighted to say, ‘Mabuhay, Perth!’ as we expand our network to Western Australia,” Philippine Airlines president & COO Stanley K. Ng said in a statement.
He added: “The new nonstop flights give Philippine Airlines and travel partners a great opportunity to promote the Philippines as a prime tourist and business destination for travelers in Western Australia.”
According to figures from 2021, Perth has a population of over 408,000 Philippine-born residents.
The Manila – Perth return services are expected to operate the following schedules:
- PR 223 departs Manila at 00:25 local time and arrives in Perth at 07:15 local time the following day
- PR 224 departs Perth at 08:30 local time and lands in Manila 15:50 local time the same day
