Brussels Airlines has unveiled a new Tomorrowland-inspired livery adorned across an Airbus A320neo that arrived fresh from the planemaker’s Toulouse facility in December 2024.
The Airbus A320neo, registered OO-SBB, was revealed to an audience of media representatives, guests, and employees at an event inside a Brussels Airlines hangar.
The aircraft features ‘Amare’, the newest ‘Belgian Icons’, and was inspired by the longer standing partnership Brussels Airlines shares with the iconic music festival, Tomorrowland.
According to Brussels Airlines, Amare is a “Tomorrowland icon symbolizing bringing people together and is actually synonymous with Unity”.
The Amare livery is also particularly special because it features augmented reality which brings the bird to life when scanned on a mobile phone through social media products such as Instagram and TikTok.
“This feature provides The People of Tomorrow a first augmented storytelling behind the world-famous magical creature Amare, which symbolizes unity and transcending time and space,” Brussels Airlines said in a statement on April 25, 2024.
“Brussels Airlines has been a proud partner of Tomorrowland since 2012 and I am happy to announce that we will extend this partnership until 2028. We have many things in common such as the passion to explore the world and connecting cultures, but also the awareness of our environmental footprint and our willingness to take the necessary steps to reduce our impact. These shared values make this partnership such a success,” Dorothea von Boxberg, CEO of Brussels Airlines, said.
The Tomorrowland experience continues inside the aircraft where passengers can enjoy an impressive sound system and special mood lighting in the cabin.
Amare will not only fly festivalgoers to Tomorrowland but also operate on commercial flights.
Officially the new aircraft’s maiden flight is on April 26, 2024, when Amare will fly from Belgium to Tenerife.
According to ch-aviation, three of five ordered A320neo have so far joined Brussels Airlines’ fleet with two more expected by the end of 2024.
The A320neo will replace smaller A319 aircraft in the Brussels Airlines fleet.
Other ‘Belgian Icons’ that have featured on Brussels Airlines planes include ‘Rackham’, which paid tribute to Tintin, and ‘Aerosmurf’.
