Vietnam Airlines surpasses domestic flight market recovery

Vietnam Airlines has reportedly carried nearly 40,000 domestic passengers this year, recording a 12% increase compared to the same period in 2019.

The air travel in Vietnam is on the rise as the national carrier averages nearly 200 flights a day with a robust domestic network totaling 40 destinations.

The airline has also increased the frequency of its eight most popular destinations between Hanoi and Vinh, Quy Nhon, Da Nang, Pleiku, Nha Trang, Tuy Hoa, Da Lat, and between Ho Chi Minh and Da Nang.

After restoring its domestic network, Vietnam Airlines is now looking at re-establish its international flights to Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, Cambodia and Laos.

The carrier claimed that it achieved a positive outcome amid the COVID-19 due to the pooled efforts of promotional campaigns and the managing of flight frequencies. Even so, a majority of other airlines have taken the same approach, however fruitlessly.

A similar success story can be seen in China, where the domestic passenger numbers were already at a mere 13% below its pre-COVID-19 levels on August 25, 2020. A strong internal market has almost proved enough for the Chinese airlines to offset the global financial havoc. At the same time, China expects the number of domestic flights to increase by 10% in October 2020 compared to the previous year.
