Air France has inaugurated its first dedicated lounge at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), offering passengers a refined French-inspired space before their flights.

Located in ORD Airport’s Terminal 5, the new 470-square-meter facility features 105 seats and operates daily from 05:00 to 23:30. The lounge is managed in partnership with Global Lounge Network and welcomes Air France Business class passengers, Flying Blue Elite Plus members, and eligible KLM travelers.

Design reflects French aviation heritage

The lounge’s design, developed by Air France teams in collaboration with design agency SGK Brandimage, showcases the airline’s brand identity through carefully curated elements.

Large bay windows highlight the lounge’s generous ceiling height, and provide the interior with natural light while showing views of the airport runways.

The interior incorporates Air France’s iconic winged seahorse logo, the airline’s historic symbol, alongside vintage posters celebrating the carrier’s aviation heritage. The color palette features signature Air France shades of blue, white, and accent touches of red.

The opening marks Air France’s first standalone lounge facility at ORD Airport, expanding the carrier’s premium ground services in one of its key destinations in the US.

French cuisine takes center stage

The lounge’s centerpiece is a dining area designed to deliver an authentic French culinary experience. It can welcome up to 40 guests and features a large communal table that encourages social interaction.

The menu rotates throughout the day, offering both hot and cold options including savory and sweet dishes with vegetarian choices available. Signature items include beef bourguignon, country-style chicken, and chocolate mousse with caramel cream.

Air France said it has adopted sustainable practices for the lounge’s food service, prioritizing local and seasonal ingredients while implementing measures to reduce food waste. The facility uses sorting and recycling protocols for catering supplies and provides water fountains to minimize single-use plastic consumption.

Lounge amenities and layout

The lounge provides multiple seating options designed for different passenger needs. Guests can choose comfortable seats throughout the main area for relaxing, working, or dining.

For travelers with extended layovers, private relaxation zones offer ottomans and runway-facing seats. The facility also includes a quiet work area and a dedicated phone booth to maintain a tranquil environment for all guests.
