Singapore’s Changi International Airport (SIN) has announced that it will accommodate more than 600 additional flights to 15 Chinese cities during the upcoming Lunar New Year period, as travel demand between Singapore and China continues to surge.
Operating between February 1 and March 8, 2026, the additional flights will double the supplementary capacity offered during the same period in 2025, according to Changi Airport Group (CAG).
Six airlines – Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Loong Air, Spring Airlines, and Xiamen Airlines – will operate the extra services, offering travelers a mix of destinations and price points. Air China, China Eastern, and Xiamen Airlines will each operate more than 140 additional flights.
Expanding connectivity to secondary cities
The supplementary flights will serve 15 cities across China, including major destinations such as Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing, as well as secondary cities like Changsha, Ningbo and Wenzhou.
The cities of Nanchang, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Wuhan, and Zhengzhou are to benefit from supplementary flights during the Lunar New Year period for the first time.
Singapore currently maintains air connections to 37 cities in China, with the country ranking among the top holiday destinations for Singaporean travelers. Mutual visa-free arrangements between the two nations have contributed to sustained travel demand.
Lim Ching Kiat, Executive Vice President for Air Hub and Cargo Development at Changi Airport Group, said that this expanded capacity reflects strong bilateral travel demand and close airline partnerships.
“The doubling of flight capacity between China and Singapore this Lunar New Year reflects the strong travel demand we continue to see between China and Singapore, as well as the close partnerships we have built with our airline partners,” Lim said. “The extended services, including to several cities receiving supplementary flights for the first time, will further strengthen Singapore’s position as a key gateway to China.”
Enhanced passenger services
To accommodate the increased passenger volumes and late-night flight schedules, Changi Airport and Jewel Changi Airport will offer enhanced services during the Lunar New Year period.
Terminals 1 and 3 will provide extended early check-in facilities, while the Changi Lounge will operate 24 hours daily with buffet service. The Jewel Rain Vortex will extend its operating hours until midnight daily.
The additional capacity and extended services aim to provide greater convenience and an improved travel experience for passengers during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
